The Biden Administration and pro-abortion Senate Democrats, including a handful facing competitive re-election contests next year, are determined to use your tax dollars to pay for abortions. And they are willing to do so by any means necessary.

Accordingly, President Biden has authorized theDepartment of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide taxpayer-funded abortions and abortion counseling to veterans, as well as eligible spouses and dependents, in direct conflict with both federal and state law.

When most of us think of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), what comes to mind is an agency dedicated to honoring and caring for the brave men and women who answered the call to serve our nation in the military. Under Biden, the VA has newer, darker priorities. For this administration, it has become a tool for advancing an extreme pro-abortion agenda. One of the primary goals of this new policy is to end-run around state laws that protect unborn children.

On Wednesday, pro-life leaders in the U.S. Senate took action and proposed a resolution (S.J.Res. 10, Sponsored by Sen. Tuberville -AL) that would have blocked Biden’s plan for taxpayer-funded abortion on demand at the VA. The pro-life resolution failed by a narrow margin of 48-51 votes, further underscoring the importance of electing a pro-life Senate majority in 2024.

Among those voting against the pro-life resolution were Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Tim Kaine (D-Virginia), Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada), Kyrsten Sinema (Ind-Arizona), Jon Tester (D-Montana) and even Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania). By voting against the resolution, these senators have sent the message loud and clear that they supportusing tax dollars to pay for unlimited abortions.

Opposing this resolution not only threatens the lives of unborn children and their mothers, but it adds insult to injury for the American taxpayer, who just one day prior was required to file taxes. The Biden Administration is clearly out of touch on this issue. In fact, a Marist Poll conducted earlier this year found that 60% of Americans oppose the use of their hard-earned tax dollars to pay for abortions.

At a time when far too many of our veterans are struggling to secure housing, pursue higher education, find meaningful employment, and access actual healthcare, the Biden Administration and Senate Democrats are focused on using the taxpayer-funded veteran agency to circumvent the law and offer unlimited abortions, for virtually any reason, across the country.

It is unconscionable.

As pro-life Americans, we do not oppose taxpayer funding for abortion solely as a matter of principle. We know (as the abortion industry also knows) that when tax dollars are used to fund abortions, the number of abortions increases. Untold numbers of unborn children could lose their lives and untold numbers of women could be irreparably harmed as a result of the pro-abortion policies of President Biden and Senate Democrats.

Our nation’s heroes and their families deserve real healthcare and real options when facing unexpected pregnancies. Instead of finding sneaky, new ways to use tax dollars to pay for abortions, which will only increase the number of abortions, our government leaders should be championing programs that offer mothers and their families the resources and support they need to make life-affirming decisions.
